At the 2025 Aegis Summit, four health system leaders joined John Noseworthy, MD (Chair, Aegis Digital Consortium; President & CEO Emeritus, Mayo Clinic) for a candid conversation about what it really takes to lead through transformation: Dennis Murphy (President & CEO, Indiana University Health), John D’Angelo, MD (President & CEO, Northwell Health), John Warner, MD (President & CEO, Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center), and Omar Lateef, MD (President & CEO, Rush University System for Health).
The panel explored how to maintain trust while driving constant change, from Northwell’s system-wide integration and “making the big feel small,” to Indiana University Health’s push into ambulatory, home-based, and vertically integrated services without losing sight of mission. They discussed balancing academic and clinical agendas at Ohio State, and Rush’s work to close life-expectancy gaps on the South and West Sides of Chicago through digital front doors, community investment, and practical innovation. Across the board, they returned to the same themes: relationships as the true currency of leadership, technology as an enabler rather than the point, and an unwavering focus on patients, staff, and community health.
