Mingguang He, MD, PhD

Professor Mingguang He is Optain’s Chief Medical Officer. He is a world-renowned expert in developing AI systems in ophthalmology. He has received grant support from the BUPA Health Foundation, Google Impact Challenge, MRFF Rapid Applied Research Translational Grant, and a National Health and Medical Research Council partnership grant. His AI research has led to original articles published in JAMA, Diabetes Care, and Ophthalmology.

Professor He is also a practising ophthalmologist and current Professor of Ophthalmic Epidemiology at the University of Melbourne and Centre for Eye Research Australia.

Professor He has international leadership experience as the Founding President of the Asia-Pacific Tele-Ophthalmology Society. He has also established partnerships with industry bodies such as Apple, Google, and the United States Food and Drug Administration.
