Russ Johannesson is a seasoned healthcare executive, board member, and strategic advisor with over 30 years of experience leading organizations across healthcare services, technology, and consumer sectors. He has a consistent track record of driving enterprise growth, executing strategic transformations, and creating stakeholder value in both private and public company settings.
Russ currently serves as CEO and Board Member of Caregentic, an AI-driven healthcare technology company that combines digital front door capabilities, patient engagement tools, and autonomous AI agents to drive personalized experiences for patients and improved operational efficiency for clinical care teams. Prior to Caregentic, he served as CEO and Board Member of Glooko, the global leader in cardiometabolic connected care. Under his leadership, Glooko expanded to 31 countries, tripled ARR, raised over $250M in capital, and executed four successful acquisitions to expand capabilities in AI, digital therapeutics, and remote monitoring.
Russ is a Board Member of Collaborating Docs, a fast-growing telehealth enablement platform focused on expanding access to care through physician collaboration and multi-state licensing support. Russ also serves on the Board of Directors of SNAQ AG, a Zurich-based digital health company that has developed the leading clinically validated AI-powered diabetes nutrition management platform which leverages proprietary 3D food imaging technology to capture and analyze meal composition and portion size in real time.
Previously, Russ held executive leadership roles as COO of Sharecare, where he led strategy, operations, and acquisition integration during a period of rapid growth, and as Chief Client Officer of OptumHealth (UnitedHealth Group), where he oversaw go-to-market strategy and client operations for an $8B+ business. He has also held leadership roles at Carlson Marketing Worldwide, Sapient, Perot Systems, and Deloitte.
Russ brings deep boardroom and operating experience, including governance, M&A, capital formation, and strategic planning. He holds an MBA in Finance and a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago.
