Zach Tan, MD

Dr. Zachary Tan is a physician, scientist, and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in healthcare technology as both an investor and founder. He is the President of Optain Health, a company harnessing AI and next-generation retinal imaging to advance oculomics—leveraging the eye as a window into overall health.
Dr. Tan served as General Partner at Aegis Ventures, where he spearheaded the creation of three AI-driven healthcare startups. Prior to his work at Optain and Aegis Ventures, Dr. Tan led the growth of Osara Health, a virtual care navigation and coaching platform for cancer patients. Under his leadership, Osara partnered with over 40 international employers and payors, providing support to more than 2 million Australians. As a researcher at the Centre for Eye Research Australia, Dr. Tan contributed to over 30 journal articles and textbook chapters in the fields of epidemiology and healthcare AI. Dr. Tan is a member of the U.S. board of the Fred Hollows Foundation and has been recognized as one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Healthcare & Science. He holds an MMSc as a Bloomberg Fellow through the Schwarzman Scholars Program at Tsinghua University, an MMed from the University of Sydney, and an MD from the University of Queensland.
